A quiet Pulaski, Tennessee, neighborhood became the scene of a deadly investigation after a shooting claimed the life of a local man and led authorities to make an arrest. Jeremy D’Juan Gardner, 37, died after suffering a gunshot wound at a residence on Culpepper Street, leaving family, friends, and the community mourning while investigators work to uncover the full circumstances behind the tragedy.
According to the Pulaski Police Department and the Giles County Sheriff’s Office, officers were called to the 500 block of Culpepper Street on Saturday, July 25, following reports of gunfire. When law enforcement arrived, they discovered Gardner suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Emergency personnel with Giles County EMS immediately began providing lifesaving care, but his injuries were ultimately fatal.
Gardner was pronounced dead at the scene before he could be transported to a hospital. Following the shooting, investigators with the Pulaski Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division secured the area and began a homicide investigation. Detectives worked to collect evidence, speak with individuals connected to the incident, and determine what events led to the deadly confrontation.
As the investigation progressed, authorities identified Cory Dwain Perry, 40, of Pulaski, as the person accused in connection with Gardner’s death. Police arrested Perry and charged him with first-degree murder, along with additional felony offenses including felon in possession of a firearm and armed dangerous felonies. Officials said he was booked into the Giles County Jail.
Authorities reported that Perry is being held without bond while awaiting further court proceedings. The charges are allegations, and the case remains active as investigators continue reviewing evidence and preparing for the next steps in the legal process. Additional charges or arrests could be possible as detectives continue their work.
The investigation is being led by Detective Sgt. Keith Crabtree of the Pulaski Police Department. Officials said multiple agencies assisted during the response and investigation, including the Giles County Sheriff’s Office and Giles County EMS. Their coordinated efforts helped secure the scene and support the ongoing process of gathering information.
The shooting has brought sadness to the Pulaski community as residents and loved ones reflect on the loss of Gardner’s life. While investigators continue searching for answers, those affected by the tragedy are left to grieve and remember the person Gardner was to the people who knew him.
