For more than six years, he served as Golf Tournament Director for the Landon’s Light Foundation, where he became dedicated to coordinating and overseeing an annual charity golf event featuring 36 teams and 144 participants.
His passion for the initiative went far beyond just managing the logistics; Matt immersed himself in attracting sponsors, building relationships, and raising vital funds that directly helped children and families facing significant challenges. Matt’s love for athletics and coaching was clear in his roles as a Youth Baseball Coach with West Fargo Baseball Inc. and as a Youth Hockey Coach for the West Fargo Stampede. Whether on the ice or in the dugout, as well as when interacting with players and their parents, Matt embodied the true spirit of a coach—patient, encouraging, and dedicated to helping young athletes enhance their skills and character. His players admired him, parents depended on him, and his fellow coaches respected him greatly. He leaves behind a legacy of young individuals whose lives have been shaped by his guidance and exemplary behavior.
A passionate supporter of sports and his local community, Matt also actively participated at Newman Outdoor Field and maintained strong ties with the University of North Dakota, where his commitment to athletics and community service flourished.
