Brittany Wendt Car Accident: Remembering Brittany Wendt, who tragically lost her life in a vehicle rollover incident on Maple Street.
The Newport community is mourning the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Brittany Wendt, who tragically passed away on December 5, 2025, as a result of a devastating car accident on Maple Street. Brittany's time came to an untimely end, leaving her relatives, friends, and all who knew her in deep grief and disbelief.
Emergency responders from the Newport Police and Newport Fire departments were dispatched at approximately 3:42 p.m. to a serious rollover crash that involved two vehicles. Despite their swift response, Brittany, who was driving a Jeep Wrangler, was pronounced dead at the accident scene. Initial findings indicate that a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck veered over the centerline on Maple Street, colliding head-on with Brittany’s vehicle, causing a rollover. This impact caused critical injuries that led to her immediate death.
The community profoundly feels the absence of Brittany. She represented kindness, empathy, and quiet strength—a person who made those around her feel valued and acknowledged. Whether it was uplifting a friend, sharing joyful moments with someone special, or offering assistance whenever needed, Brittany lived a life of generosity and selflessness. Her departure will leave a substantial gap in every space she once brightened.
The driver of the pickup truck, identified as 49-year-old Dylan Galland from East Windsor, Connecticut, was discovered to be intoxicated at the time of the incident and has been charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated. Presently, he is receiving care for injuries that are not life-threatening and is facing additional charges, including Negligent Homicide, with court appearances set for December 8th at the 5th Circuit Court – District Division – Newport.
