Walcha Motorcycle Rally Incident Results in Injuries to Thirteen as Demolition Derby Vehicle Collides with Spectators
Thirteen people were taken to the hospital after a vehicle lost control during the Demolition Derby at the Walcha Motorcycle Rally, crashing into spectators at the Walcha Showground on Saturday evening.
As per NSW Ambulance, eleven individuals sustained minor injuries, whereas two others suffered serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries. All individuals transported to medical facilities are reported to be adults.

Emergency personnel from SES, Fire and Rescue NSW, and NSW Ambulance were already present at the event and promptly responded, delivering initial medical assistance and helping to categorize the injured individuals.
Early reports from the scene suggested there might have been around 20 people injured, with six individuals possibly in critical condition. The situation became clearer after paramedics completed their assessments.
The incident triggered a substantial emergency response, featuring the deployment of two helicopters, multiple ambulance crews, SES volunteers, firefighters, and nurses who were on-site to render assistance.
Brendan Moylan, the local MP, acknowledged the seriousness of the event, stating in an official announcement:
“A serious incident took place at the Walcha Motorcycle Rally tonight. I have been informed that a vehicle involved in the demolition derby crashed into a crowd of spectators, leading to several injuries. Emergency responders are at the scene providing immediate support. I will share more information as soon as accurate details are available. My thoughts are with everyone affected. – Brendan.”
Authorities have not released information regarding how the vehicle left the track or if the event will continue as scheduled.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are currently in progress.
