 A 33-year-old pregnant woman tragically lost her life along with her unborn baby after being struck in a multi-vehicle accident in the north-west region of Sydney. A teenage driver has been charged by the authorities in connection with this incident.

Emergency services were notified shortly after 8 p.m. on Friday (14 November 2025) after reports indicated a pedestrian had been hit near the entrance of a parking lot located on George Street in Hornsby.

The police claim that a BMW, driven by 19-year-old Aaron Papazoglu, crashed into the rear of a Kia Carnival, forcing the Kia to strike the woman while she was walking with her husband and their three-year-old son.

Paramedics from NSW Ambulance attended to the eight-month-pregnant woman before taking her to Westmead Hospital in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, both she and her unborn child unfortunately succumbed shortly after.

The drivers of the BMW and Kia, the latter being a 48-year-old man, escaped without injuries. Both individuals underwent requisite testing. No passengers were in either car.

Officials from the Ku-Ring-Gai Police Area Command established a crime scene, while the Collision Investigation Unit conducted an extensive forensic examination overnight.

Around 12:45 a.m. Saturday (15 November 2025), authorities arrested Papazoglu at a home on Millewa Avenue in Wahroonga. He was then taken to the Hornsby Police Station where he faced charges of:

According to the police, the teenager, who holds a provisional driving license, could face a sentence of up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

Papazoglu was denied bail and is set to appear in Parramatta Local Court today.

The woman’s husband and their small son, who witnessed the event, were unharmed physically but required treatment at the scene due to emotional distress.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing. Authorities are urging any witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage captured on George Street around 8 p.m. on Friday to contact Crime Stoppers.
