Slidell Commemorates 5-Year-Old Carson Lawson After Tragic Driveway Accident; Grandmother Arrested for Vehicle Manslaughter

Carson Lawson Slidell, La Death and Obituary – The residents of Slidell are mourning the tragic loss of Carson Lawson, a 5-year-old boy who was fatally struck by a vehicle driven by his grandmother on the morning of Tuesday, November 11, 2025. This heartbreaking incident occurred shortly after 7 a.m. in the driveway of his home situated on the 300 block of Spartan Loop, as Carson was waiting for his school bus to arrive.

At that moment, Carson was positioned at the front of the driveway when his grandmother, Kristen Anders, began to operate her 2016 GMC Yukon. Unfortunately, the child was hit and pronounced deceased at the scene.

SUPPORT THE FAMILY, GOD BLESS YOU

An investigation carried out by the Slidell Police Department uncovered that Anders was under the influence of alcohol and central nervous system depressants during the accident. She has been arrested and charged with vehicular homicide. Slidell Police Chief Daniel Seuzeneau referred to the incident as a "parent's worst nightmare," underlining the significant impact it has had on the family and the local community.

Carson's mother has publicly shared her grief, describing the incident as an unimaginable loss and calling for heightened awareness around vehicle and driveway safety. The community has come together to offer support to the family, sending condolences during this incredibly difficult time.

This tragedy has ignited discussions in Slidell and surrounding areas about child safety around vehicles, particularly in residential driveways. Safety specialists have highlighted that larger SUVs and trucks often have blind spots that can obscure small children, emphasizing the critical need for continuous vigilance, supervision, and the use of safety tools such as rear-view cameras or sensors

Local organizations are encouraging parents and caregivers to instruct children on the importance of avoiding vehicles and ensuring that drivers remain alert when backing up or leaving driveways. The Slidell Police Department has also reinforced the risks of driving under the influence, stressing the need for responsible behavior and preventive measures to prevent similar tragedies.

Carson Lawson is lovingly remembered as a joyful and lively young boy whose life was cut short. Friends, family, and neighbors recall him as someone brimming with joy and curiosity, spreading happiness to those around him. His untimely passing serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of life and the crucial importance of safety and awareness, especially in familiar environments like one’s own driveway.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing, and officials are consistently urging drivers to be more cautious, particularly in areas where children are present.
