Remembering Thomas Lorenz: A Seventh Grader from St. Louis Loses His Life After a Courageous Battle with Leukemia

The St. Louis community is mourning the loss of Thomas Lorenz, a seventh grader at SSP, who passed away after a brave and persistent battle with leukemia. Affectionately referred to as "Super Thomas," he was the cherished child of Joe Lorenz and CarolAnne Renick Lorenz, a kindergarten teacher at SSP, and a beloved sibling to John, Cora, and Lucy. His grandparents, Diana and Rick Sollmann, and Joan and Tim Lorenz, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins, also held him close to their hearts.

Throughout his battle with illness, Thomas displayed an indomitable spirit. His intellect, kindness, and lively sense of humor touched everyone around him. Friends, family, and even those who were unfamiliar with him gained inspiration from his resilience, courage, and the joy he radiated, even during tough times.

As time passed, Thomas's journey resonated with a multitude of individuals, bringing forth support from various corners of the community. Neighbors, schoolmates, and even those who never encountered him were captivated by his story, moved by the strength he demonstrated and the grace with which he confronted his illness. Thomas’s memory represents not defeat, but rather embodies hope, determination, and love, showing everyone the true meaning of resilience.

Though his life was tragically short, Thomas will leave a lasting impact for many years to come. He taught significant lessons to all who met him about the power of community, the spirit of tenacity, and the importance of maintaining hope. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know him.

The Lorenz family has received an outpouring of love and support, and we express our deepest condolences to them during this time of sorrow. We hope for their comfort and healing, and may Thomas’s spirit rest in peace, forever remembered as Super Thomas—a symbol of love and courage that will never be forgotten.
