At around 7:30 a.m., two drivers became embroiled in a conflict while navigating the westbound 215 freeway. According to law enforcement, the situation between these individuals intensified rapidly, with one being a 22-year-old man. This altercation prompted the suspect to fire a single bullet into the other vehicle.

Inside the targeted car were the boy's stepfather and the 11-year-old, who occupied the back seat on their way to school. The errant bullet struck the child, inflicting life-threatening injuries. In a desperate response, the stepfather crashed his vehicle into the suspect's, which caused both cars to stop on the roadway.

Emergency services quickly transported the injured child to a nearby hospital. Despite all medical efforts to save him, he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

A Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer, who was in the vicinity, promptly reacted to the situation. The officer detained the 22-year-old suspect, who was later booked into the Henderson Detention Center. He is facing multiple charges, including open murder and discharging a weapon into a vehicle occupied by individuals.

Henderson Police Chief Reggie Rader labeled the shooting a “senseless act,” underscoring the alarming consequences that can arise from momentary road rage.
